Auto Shutoff Failure
Alert readers may note that there is no "Amazon Verified Purchase" link on this review. That's because I bought it at a local store rather than through Amazon. However, I do a good bit of comparison shopping via Amazon reviews before I buy things, so I felt posting here would possibly be helpful to others.
I use an electric kettle because a) it's faster than a teakettle on the stove and b) automatic shutoff. I'm sometimes easily distracted and I also have a baby. My last kettle quit heating up after about a year of daily use, and I confess I sought the least expensive replacement available locally. I should know better by now.
The manual warns that the exterior becomes hot, and it did, noticeably more so than my last kettle. I noticed that the kettle seemed to have thinner walls and to be less sturdy in general (which I figured was to be expected since I went the cheap route).
