Fischer Bargoin Natural Whetstone In Individual Box



The Shape and Price Point is Spot On
I bought this primarily for the shape so I can more safely sharpen my curved non-serrated sickles. I guess us Americans needed a French company to remind us that this is an efficient shape and tool for the job. Before this I was using chunks of silicon carbide stone which is a bit dangerous. The shape is long, thin, and slightly rounded so it will go over the curved bevels easy. I'll be forcing it to become more rounded as time goes by using it. As far as the mineral make up of the natural whetstone here is more information.

1. This stone is a hard gray novaculite. Unlapped, and unrefined.
2. The polish left by the stone is high, and the stone will not remove a considerable amount of metal without a lot of force. Even so, the grit can be about 200 + with extreme force. In comparison, a coarse silicon carbide will remove metal much faster.
3. Being unlapped, the polish should increase over time, however the abrasiveness will be cut down. Thus what I...
